Playing
Where can I play?
In your web browser at flakrunner.com/play, on a computer or a phone, with nothing to download. There are also apps for iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and Android (8.0 or later). Get the app and your phone goes straight to its store.
Is it free?
Yes. Every mode is free, and every ship is earned by flying. The Shop sells optional extras: coin packs, gem packs, Remove Ads, a Starter Pack and the season pass. There are no energy bars or lives timers.
How is the web game different from the apps?
The game is the same everywhere: the same rules, the same Daily course and the same leaderboards and leagues. The differences are around it.
- The web game needs no install and no account. On a computer you can flap with the Space bar.
- The apps run natively, at up to 120 frames per second on screens that support it.
- The apps can send an optional reminder when the Daily is ready. The web game never sends notifications.
- The iPhone app adds Game Center, and the Android app adds Google Play Games, both with achievements and leaderboards.
- In the apps you pay through the App Store or Google Play. On the web you sign in before buying.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the game and fly. Signing in is optional. It lets you keep your progress across devices, pick a nickname for the leaderboards and invite friends.
Ads and purchases
When do ads show?
In the iPhone and Android apps, ads only show between runs, never during one. You won't see one in your first five runs. After that, at most one shows every five runs, with at least three minutes between them.
What are rewarded ads?
They are ads you choose to watch for a reward, and they only play when you tap WATCH AN AD. In the apps you'll find that button in three places:
- the free supply drop of coins in the Shop, which comes back every four hours
- the first continue in an Endless run
- the option to double the coins from a run
Skip them and nothing else changes. Remove Ads stops the ads between runs. Rewarded ads stay available, because they only play when you ask for one.
How do I restore my purchases?
Purchases belong to your pilot. On a new phone, or after reinstalling, sign in with the same Google or Apple account, open the Shop and tap RESTORE PURCHASES. Coins and gems you buy are added to your pilot by our server, so they travel with a signed-in pilot's save.
Saves and accounts
How does cloud save work?
Sign in with Google or Apple on the web and iPhone, or with Google on Android. Your pilot then has one save shared by the website and both apps. The game saves after runs and when you leave it.
If two devices disagree, the game shows both side by side, THIS DEVICE and SAVED PILOT, and you choose one. Purchases stay with you either way. Settings such as sound, Assist and colour-blind colours stay separate on each device.
If you play on the web without signing in, your progress lives in that browser. Clearing site data or using a private window can lose it, and Safari may clear a site's storage after seven days without a visit. Signing in avoids all of that.
What happens when I sign out?
Your progress stays on that device. Sign back in to pick up your saved pilot.
Can I pick a nickname?
Yes, once you're signed in. A nickname is 3 to 16 letters and numbers, with single spaces or underscores between words. You can switch to a different name once every 30 days. Pilots without one appear as PILOT and four characters, such as PILOT 3F2A.
How do invites work?
Signed-in pilots find a six-character code under Settings › INVITE FRIENDS. A new pilot who signs in, enters your code in their first week and flies three runs gets 25 gems, and so do you, for up to ten friends.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings › ACCOUNT › DELETE ACCOUNT. It removes your cloud progress, scores and league standing for good, and it can't be undone. The game then starts you fresh as a new guest. If deleting fails, email contact@flakrunner.com with the Pilot ID shown in the same section.
Accessibility
What does Assist mode do?
Turn on ASSIST MODE in Settings. In Endless it slows the course and caps its top speed, softens gravity, widens every gap and adds two hearts. Turrets stay away for the first 24 walls and fire less often after that, and the floor bounces you back up instead of ending the run. Assist runs go on their own leaderboard and earn half league points. The Daily, the Weekly Lab and Ace always fly at full difficulty.
Is there a colour-blind option?
Yes. COLORBLIND COLOURS in Settings switches power-ups and enemy fire to colours that are safe for red-green colour blindness. The game also offers it before your first flight.
Can I reduce flashes and motion?
REDUCE FLASHES removes screen flashes, halves the screen shake and tones down trails, kill effects and flickering backgrounds. Reduced motion follows your device's own setting: animated backgrounds hold still and trails get shorter. Before your first flight the game shows a photosensitivity notice with the flash and colour switches right there.
Sound effects, music and haptics each have their own switch, and sound and music have volume sliders.
